about

Ottovolante (6:58)
Distance collaboration with Bob Marsh (violin, voice and electronics) from San Francisco, California, for the project
Eight which involves musicians all over the world. Bob wrote to me at the end of October 2007:
"Hi Massimo,
I thought perhaps you would like to participate in a new project of mine. I am asking several people to each work on a long distance duet collaboration by reacting to an eight minute collection of sounds I made. [...] You can add, subtract, multiply or divide them, and do anything else you want to them and with them. Anything you do is fine with me. Have fun!"
Ottovolante is my composition: I cut, edited, treated, transformed Bob Marsh's samples; I added plug-ins, introduced a bass line and finally refined the whole thing with persuading alto saxophone intromissions.
I had fun.
(So did Bob, it seems: "Bravo! I love it! The down to earth humor in the face of an ultimate interstellar assault. Great twists and variations. Most excellent.")
Completed on December 9th 2007

Discovery (6:36)
Massimo Falascone: alto saxophone | Matteo Pennese: MaxMSP processing.
Real-time playing and recording on July 6th 2005. Mixing by Matteo Pennese

Che senso ha (5:36)
Started in October 2007, finished on June 26th 2008. Abstract appearances of baritone saxophone.

Disarmonica 1 (6:31)
Improvisation for alto saxophone, ipod and loop sampler. Some post-production adjustments. Just a few, nothing too serious.
Recorded on June 29th 2008.

Orpheus (5:30)
Piece composed for the final act ballet of Orfeo 400, a multi-discipline event of performing arts where the public is led to 10 visual, audio and physical installations along a compulsory route in the different spaces of Teatro San Domenico in Crema, on April 14th 2007 in the evening.

Disarmonica 2 (7:38)
Improvisation for baritone saxophone and loop sampler. Instant cloning of replicating baritone saxophones. Recorded on June 29th 2008.

Lavamipasta (12:50)
The supporting frame of this piece was composed in spring 2007 for the homonimous installation in Orfeo 400. The recipe of Pasta alla Norma and the necessary suspensions of a distortion-oriented alto saxophone completed the sequence on June 28th 2008.

Ericka (3:38)
Composition by Joseph Jarman.
Recorded on June 29th 2008.

Ottovolante (6:58)
Collaborazione a distanza con Bob Marsh (violino, voce ed elettronica) da San Francisco, California, per il progetto Eight che coinvolge vari musicisti in tutto il mondo.
Bob mi scrisse a fine Ottobre 2007:
"Hi Massimo,
I thought perhaps you would like to participate in a new project of mine. I am asking several people to each work on a long distance duet collaboration by reacting to an eight minute collection of sounds I made. [...] You can add, subtract, multiply or divide them, and do anything else you want to them and with them. Anything you do is fine with me. Have fun!"
I love it! The down to earth humor in the face of an ultimate interstellar assault. Great twists and variations. Most excellent.")

Orpheus (5:30)

Ericka (3:38)
Composizione di Joseph Jarman.
